Gaming is Hard

Hello friends! I am adding a new feature for all subscribers that is designed for you all to come ask me your burning publishing questions and gain a little glimpse into the industry from a perspective that is not wholly mine!

I'm going to start doing regular Twitch streams that will be three different things simultaneously:

  1. I will play a video game on stream.
  2. I will interview an author or someone involved in the publishing industry.
  3. I – and my guest – will try to answer your questions live.

Think of this as like Hot Ones, but with video games and I'm the one always in the hot seat. We're putting my claim of "I can talk about publishing in my sleep" to the test and we're gonna push my multi-tasking abilities to the limit.

So, here's how it works. I'm going to be building out a schedule of guests. Guests will be invited to play on stream either co-op or competitive, or depending on interest, just watch and chat and probably dunk on how bad I am at video games. I'll try and set a topic for us and as a general theme for your questions. Just ask your questions in the chat and we'll answer them live!

The guests will be paid for their time. Not a lot, admittedly, but I'm hoping to increase that as subscriptions go up. Y'all are funding this project and the more subscriptions we get, the more I can make sure that the guests will be fairly compensated. I deeply appreciate your support and it makes this whole newsletter project possible.

Thank you to those of you who have come to prior iterations of this! I feel like I'm zeroing in on a format that works and shaking out some of the technical issues. Y'all's participation has really helped me figure out what I want to be doing going forward.

The first stream will be Monday 11/21 at twitch.tv/dongwonsong. I'll be joined by author and narrative designer Kate Dollarhyde. We'll be playing Elden Ring with the seamless co-op mod!

Arise, ye tarnished and ask me publishing questions!
